Contract: Part-time (20 hours a week)

Contract length: 12 month fixed term contract, with possibility of being extended.

Salary: £50,000 (pro-rated)

The Franks Family Foundation (FFF) works to make the world more educated, healthy and meritocratic. It strives to deliver systemic improvements, through targeted programs, and by advocacy, to foster social and economic change in the developing world. In particular, it aims to equip young people to become changemakers – young, local civil society leaders with the capacity and vision necessary to make real change.

The FFF has a non-conventional way of operating. It aims to be both entrepreneurial and innovative in its approach to philanthropy and problem-solving. We are ambitious and believe we can help address complex social problems by targeted initiatives, and partnering and mentoring the best-in-class NGOs, and joining up and coordinating their activities.

To fulfil its strategic objectives, the Foundation has a range of initiatives in South-East Asia that focus on nurturing civil society. From developing quality schools within state systems, providing teacher training, and medical and health services to our students, through to the provision of university scholarships.

1 Key Tasks and Responsibilities

1.1 Strategy

§ Oversee existing programs, and identify and devise programmatic initiatives to support the execution of the Foundation’s strategy.

§ Promote and communicate the Foundation’s strategic efforts to encourage more philanthropy and improve its effectiveness.

1.2 Stakeholder management

§ Manage relationships with senior stakeholders in government, NGO, and philanthropic sectors.

§ Maintain and develop an active network with partners, prospective partners and other key stakeholders within the philanthropy and international development sectors.

§ Prepare regular reports on program activities for the Chairman and trustees.

1.3 Communications

§ Support the development and implementation of an effective communications strategy to advance the work of the Foundation and its partners.

§ Raise the Foundation’s profile and its core values.

§ Identify opportunities to promote the Foundation, and the work of its partners.

§ Represent the Foundation at conferences, events, etc.

1.4 Program Management

§ Oversee the design, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of civil society, health, and education programs in South-East Asia.

§ Monitor and oversea the programme budget.

§ Assess and evaluate proposals from prospective partners.

§ Assist prospective partners develop and improve their business plans.

§ Establish monitoring and evaluation systems.

§ Conduct field visits to project sites, and assess progress.

1.5 Staff Management

§ Line manage junior staff and relationships with overseas partners.

§ Hire and manage consultants.

§ Oversee the execution and completion of staff research projects.

§ Oversee the completion of funding applications (on behalf of partners).

§ Excellent interpersonal and management skills.

§ Experience in advocacy roles and building relationships within the NGO and international development sectors with a range of stakeholders.

§ Experience in designing and directing the delivery of international projects and programs,

§ Familiarity with the workings of international donors.

§ Understanding of international development, including the challenges facing vulnerable communities in low-resource settings.

§ Excellent understanding of UK development policy.

§ Effective communication, networking, analysis and writing skills. Ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.

§ Demonstrable experience in liaising with communities, local authorities and other NGOs, preferably in a South East Asian context.

§ Experience in grant writing and donor relations.
