Purpose of the Position:

The Data Solutions Engineer will help the unit to conceptualize and deliver better data and analytics services. The incumbent of this position will work closely with UNICC partners and datasets to understand objectives and identify trends in various studies and will act as the focal point for client projects as well as internal data product development.

Objectives of the Programme:

The objectives of the Centre, as stated by its mandate, are to provide information and communication technology (ICT) services (including training) on an inter-organizational basis.

Main duties and responsibilities:

The incumbent will work under the direct supervision and guidance of the Chief of the Data & Analytics unit within the Clients and Projects division and in close collaboration with the Data & Analytics team. The incumbent could be requested to do any others tasks of similar level in related fields.

The incumbent will perform the following duties:

  • Manage the end-to-end data analytics delivery aligned with client’s expectations. Work with Data Engineers, Data Architects, and Cloud Engineers to design, manage and implement solutions
  • Provide artefacts, analysis reports and solution architecture designs that comply with business prerequisites, oversight of data projects reviews and framework; along with relevant documentation.
  • Facilitate communication from and to the clients for Data and Analytics projects
  • Design and build high scale production grade ML systems
  • Lead a cross functional data team (ML/AI/Data & Analytics)
  • Build the required tools to support operations and boost performance.
  • Design and implement reporting and analytics features in collaboration with product owners, reporting analysts / data analysts, and business partners within an Agile / Scrum methodology
  • Ensure Data security is integrated into all architecture solutions to meet compliance standards
  • Proactively support Data Solutions health by building solutions that are automated, scalable, and sustainable – be relentlessly focused on minimizing defects and technical debt
  • Design, build, test and deploy highly scalable, resilient, cost-effective, and secure cloud-based solutions using Azure/ AWS cloud technologies
  • Prepare, maintain, and submit clear and concise activity and management reports
  • Other: Provide other ad hoc support either within your team or in other teams as required – this includes the participation in special projects or support to service delivery for short period of time on a part-time or full time basis upon request from the senior management

Recruitment Profile

Experience and Skills required:

Essential:

Five years of relevant IT experience including in the following areas:

  • Deep understanding of BI / Analytics / Data Technology landscape (trends, key platform vendors etc.)
  • Deep technical know-how of some of the key evolving technological platforms like Automation, Machine Learning based NLP approaches, Data Quality, Data Hub, AI, Sensitivity Analysis, etc.
  • Proficient in Python machine learning libraries, shell scripting, Python scripting
  • Knowledge of and experience with RDBMS platforms, such as MS SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, MySQL, Postgres, SAP HANA, and Teradata
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into solution design and technical specifications
  • Experience with Service Management methodologies (ITIL) and Change Management
  • Hands-on experience in Cloudera, Python,Pyspark, Spark framework, Sqoop, Hive, Flume, Kafka, No SQL database(Elastic Search), Azure, AWS cloud platform and RDBMS Databases. Developing DevOps pipelines using tools such as Nolio, Jenkins, Docker
  • Capabilities in developing behavior driven Natural Language Processing (NLP) models using various Machine Learning/AI techniques
  • Ability to maintain partnerships across the Organization and beyond

Desirable:

  • AI/ML knowledge
  • Oracle PeopleSoft ERP Business modules knowledge and experience (functional and/or technical)
  • DevOps, JIRA and GitHub experience
  • Experience wih data visualization applications such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik Sense
  • Ability to lead teams and act as a versatile team player with good communication and interpersonal skills. Working with globally distributed teams

Eduction:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Big data) or in a related field

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with AWS and Azure Data Analytics Services
  • Data certification such as Microsoft Data Certifications, AWS Big Data Specialist, Cloudera, Microsoft Data Management and Analytics, Microsoft Azure Big Data Analytics Solution, Oracle BI Intelligence Foundation Plus or SAS Big Data
  • Prince2 Agile, ITIL, SCRUM, etc. certifications

Languages:

  • English: Expert knowledge is required
  • French: Beginner knowledge is desirable
  • Other language: Spanish, Beginner knowledge is desirable

Other Information

Compensation:

Annual Salary Estimation (net of tax at single rate), including post adjustment (32,9% on September 2021): US$ 80,049.
