Project Overview

Maximizing Options to Advance Informed Choice for HIV Prevention (MOSAIC) is a five-year (2021-2026) global project funded by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to help women protect themselves from HIV by accelerating introduction and scale-up of new biomedical prevention products.

Position Description

The Data Manager will be responsible for ensuring the quality of data of MOSAIC studies in Eswatini. The data manger’s responsibilities include developing data collection tools and database systems for organizing data to store, analyze, identify, and report data and trends. Using their programming skills, the data manager will create data queries and scripts that will be used to generate periodic and ad hoc reports for the study team. They will identify and document data discrepancies in collaboration with the study coordinator and data collectors. Working closely with both national and international staff - including site staff, data managers in other countries, and the headquarters Lead Data Manager - this position requires excellent communication skills and commitment to detailed documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide vision for the design and direct the development, testing, documentation, and implementation of data management systems for MOSAIC studies.
  • Develop a secure database for tracking study participants hosted on a local server; manages permissions and develops, follows and monitors adherence to strict procedures for access
  • Develops data management, data cleaning plans and data analysis plan and oversees their implementation.
  • Develop and/or revise Data Management SOPs and related documentation for the study.
  • Train, lead and mentor a team of internal data collectors, as well as ones at partner organizations, to ensure high quality database development, data capture, data processing and documentation according to protocol. Involves identification and delegation of tasks.
  • Provides input on the design of case report forms to meet study objectives.
  • Reviews and analyzes data discrepancies to identify and report data and trends.
  • Monitor performance goals and objectives to ensure quality in the processing of data
    generated from study
  • Establish appropriate project tracking tools/ study dashboard using computer assisted programs and ensure timely entry of project information.
  • Develop and ensure adherence to policies that ensure the security and confidentiality of
    sensitive data, including adherence to FHI 360, sponsor/client, relevant national and
    international standards and Open Data guidance.
