JOB DESCRIPTION

ACAPS, a project hosted by NRC, is looking for a Data Analyst to join its Data Services team. If you are passionate about data, the humanitarian sector and want to contribute to the quality of our data products, join our team!

Please note that this position is open to national Jordanians only. It is a full-time position, subject to funding (until 31.03.2023, likely to be further extended).

Purpose of the position
To contribute to the cross-organizational coherence of ACAPS data products and methodology, including the implementation of Data Services processes, and responsibility of quality control of ACAPS datasets, including the INFORM Severity Index.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to ensure ACAPS’ workflow to produce data and estimates required for the different data products throughout the organisation.
  • Provide data analysis support to the different ACAPS teams.
  • Support the ACAPS team in implementing data-related products and processes.
  • Support the Team Leader in mentoring on data literacy and guiding analysts throughout the organization.
  • Contribute to develop ACAPS analysis tools and methodologies under the supervision of the Team Leader.
  • Support the Team Leader in representing ACAPS in external technical groups.
  • Document methodology, datasets and lessons learnt as required.
  • Review and adapt ACAPS' existing Informational Management tools (cloud and database) and workflow with additional fields and functionalities, and detect inconsistencies.
  • Document methodology tools and evolution in support to the Team Leader.
  • Support the development of technical partnerships with expert entities working on data collection and analysis (Centre for Humanitarian Data, DHS...).
  • Perform other duties in the organisation as appropriate.

  • Reports to the Data Services Team Leader
  • Closely coordinates and collaborates with ACAPS various analysis teams.

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience

  • Education to postgraduate level in social sciences, data science, or other relevant subject.
  • At least 3 years field or headquarters experience in the humanitarian sector.
  • Training and proven understanding/application of quantitative and qualitative research methods
  • Basic knowledge of coding (Python/ R)
  • Knowledge of standard ICT office support tools including spreadsheets, word-processing and presentation software.
