About the role

Objective of the consultancy

Crown Agents seeks an individual, experienced in immunisation service delivery in challenging environments (preferred experience in fragile and conflict-affected situations (FCAS) to work closely with the COVAX technical working group in supporting the MoH and other relevant stakeholders to ensure equitable access to COVID-19 vaccine. This position plays an important external representation and coordination role and is expected to successfully engage with other relevant stakeholders in the health sector in South Sudan, in order to strengthen COVID- 19 vaccine roll- out nationally.

Scope of Work

The consultant will conduct the following specific tasks (LOE per task is approximate and should be discussed further with Crown Agents):

Description of Tasks

Collaborate with MoH SS, WHO, UNICEF and other stakeholders to improve the COVID vaccine distribution, administration, planning and micro-planning.

Refine the COVID-19 vaccine delivery strategy to best reach target groups, ensuring no one is left behind

Facilitate all COVAX workshops and teleconferences on service delivery

Study and propose possible routes of Covid 19 vaccination integration with routine EPI program

Compile a comprehensive report to document the roll- out of COVID- 19 vaccine in HPF supported facilities.

Identify human resources needs and conduct on the job training and supportive supervision. Ensure all health facilities have adequately trained vaccinators

Training of BHWs on vaccine effectiveness, key messages, identification of vulnerable groups for mobile/outreach

Set up of mobile sites to reach further into communities

Participate in supportive supervision of COVID-19 vaccination program

Last mile cold chain monitoring, vaccine wastage and reverse logistics

Support COVID-19 vaccination planning and training

Immediate start required

About you

  • At least 10 years’ working experience in immunization
  • Master’s qualification in International Public Health, Health Services Management or related field is desirable
  • Clinical background desirable (medical doctor, clinical officer, nurse or related)
  • Preferred experience working in Fragile and Conflict Affected States
  • High quality technical presentations and reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English is essential.
  • Experience in new vaccines introduction
  • Computer literate: at a minimum must be able to use Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook proficiently
