Associazione Ai.Bi. Amici dei Bambini is an Italian non-governmental organization, established in 1986, operating in Italy and in more than 30 countries worldwide to guarantee every child the right to be son or daughter. We are searching for a Country Director/Project Manager.

Ai.Bi. Amici dei Bambini has been operating in Ukraine since 1999. Our mission is to provide humanitarian assistance to vulnerable children and their families, including children without parental care welcomed in public residential institutes. Our strategy is based on a holistic approach that aims to improve children’s protection and well-being.

Currently, Ai.Bi. operates in Ukraine in the food security and protection field. In the past it conducted programs financed by the Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development and private foundations.

Contract: 12 months contract (3 months trial period), extensible.

Ai.Bi. - Associazione Amici dei Bambini is looking for a Country Director/Project Manager based in Kyiv to manage emergency and recovery/reconstruction projects in Ukraine, at the moment in Kyiv and Vinnitsa region.

The resource will report directly to AiBi desk officer in Italy.

The Country Director/Project Manager is accountable for coordinate implementation of active programs, planning and allocating resources, preparing budgets, monitoring new areas of intervention making rapid needs assessment, keeping stakeholders informed throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities will include resource and work planning, budget management, reporting, systems and tools development, team management and looking for new funding and project opportunities.

The Country Director/Project Manager will have the following duties:

· To coordinate food security and protection projects in Ukraine, both ongoing and to be identified. All activities will be carried out in collaboration with director of the Ukrainian branch of the Association, local partners and Ai.Bi.’s headquarters.

· To manage all financial resources and available funds; to draft and update intermediate and final financial reports, in compliance with the main national and international donors’ rules (AICS – Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development, EU, UNOCHA and private foundations).

· Possibly available to be part of key responsibility in the Ukrainian branch of the Association.

· To work on new project proposals, including budgeting, identifying new issues to be addressed and new partners to involve, or strengthening ongoing thematic priorities and existing and new partnerships.

· To carry out monitoring activities and feasibility studies in view of new project proposals. To regularly draft operational reports, news, and articles.

· To draft intermediate and monitoring reports as well as final and evaluation reports, taking into consideration the expected results indicators.

· To maintain, foster and build institutional relationships with international donors, and coordinate with the other humanitarian actors within the thematic clusters of reference.

· To regularly update Ai.Bi.’s headquarters on the ongoing activities, providing standardized and periodic reports.

· To regularly update Ai.Bi.’s headquarters on local security aspects and to be in charge of security management in Ukraine according to Ai.Bi.’s procedures.

· To participate in the reinforcement of the local office through a recruitment of necessary personnel or members of the technical team.

· The perfect applicant/candidate will be graduated in Social Sciences, Political Sciences, International Cooperation and will have previous experience in managing international cooperation projects within developing countries and emergency contexts.

Requirements:

· Experience (at least 3 years) in technical and financial management of development cooperation projects within developing countries and emergency contexts. More specifically, previous experience on projects funded by OCHA, EU (e.g., EIDHR).

· Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English. The knowledge of Italian will be an asset.

· Communication and mediation skills with partners and local institutions.

· Proven expertise in managing and coordinating local partners and project activities.

· Excellent "problem solving" skills and adaptation to disadvantaged contexts.

· Good knowledge of Windows Office. Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation applications will be an asset.

· Previous work experience, especially in child protection cooperation projects, in Ukraine and in conflict contexts, knowledge of the legal framework for child protection in Ukraine will be an asset.
