NRC External Relations (Exrel) is a global team responsible for engaging with private individuals and organisation to build awareness of NRCs work and raise resources for NRC, unearmarked funds, grants, and pro bono. To do this Exrel has four focus areas; Public Engagement who give a global public voice to NRC and the people we serve; Fundraising who grow our income of unearmarked funding from private individuals; Donor Management who ensure our income from regular donors; Corporate who get grants and pro bono resources from private organisations and private philanthropist and the capital market. In addition, there is a Governance function that crosses all these functions focused on legal, financial, human resource and other ‘fit for purpose’ activities.

Private organisations – private foundations, corporations, impact investors, capital market and private philanthropist– represent an alternative and growing source of resources for humanitarian assistance. They are especially suitable for enabling change and innovation through their expertise, networks, and flexible funding approaches which are not readily available from institutional donors. NRC has a goal to grow partnerships and diversify funding sources (Strategic Enabler 3) which includes greater partnership with private organisations both for grants, pro bono support and joint projects such as private public partnerships built with blended finance, impact investment and joint ventures.

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is an independent humanitarian organisation helping people forced to flee. We work in crises across more than 31 countries, providing emergencies and long-term assistance to millions of people every year. We stand up for people forced to flee, advocating their rights. NORCAP, our global provider of expertise, helps improve international and local ability to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from crises. NRC also runs the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre in Geneva, a global leader in reporting on and advocating for people displaced within their own country. Employment with NRC may lead to employment in or deployment to Regions, Countries, Areas or Offices that may be host to considerable health, safety and security risks. NRC takes this very seriously and we have procedures in place to reduce known risks, but will never be able to take away all risks. NRC is an equal opportunities employer and aims to have staffing diversity in terms of age, gender, ethnicity, nationality and physical ability.
