Founded in 1939 as the labour movement’s humanitarian solidarity organisation, NPA aims to improve people’s living conditions and to create societies that are more just and more democratic. NPA’s international work covers three core areas: Mine Action and Disarmament, Democratisation and Just distribution of power and resources and Humanitarian Action and Crises response.

Wars and armed conflicts come to an end; however, the remnants of war continue to impact millions of people for decades to follow. NPA Mine Action and Disarmament's vision is a world where people and communities are safe, resilient and protected before, during and after armed conflict. Together with national authorities and other stakeholders, we are working to resolve problems faced by local communities caused by landmines and explosive remnants of war. Currently, NPA has more than 22 Mine Action Programmes ongoing in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Balkans and the Middle East.
We are now seeking a new Finance Controller for our department for Mine Action and Disarmament in Oslo. As our new Finance Controller you will work closely with and support the management in a selection of country programmes.

You will join the Head Office team in Oslo with frequent travels to programmes. You will be met with high expectations in a dynamic work environment. In a challenging environment your contribution to good financial control will be essential. Our ideal candidate enjoys working internationally. You will work closely with Program Advisors at Head Office and our international management teams to prepare and improve financial reporting, ensure compliance and strengthen performance and sound financial management.

Responsibilities

  • Advise and guide international senior management on financial compliance, best practice and financial management
  • Quality assure application- and reporting processes to donors and contribute to effective processes
  • Build capacity and conduct trainings in country programs and at Head Office
  • Contribute to financial viable decision making both at Head Office and in country programs
  • Continuously assess risk and contribute to the management and control of financial risk
  • Perform visits to country programs, report on findings and suggest improvements

Knowledge, experience and skills required

  • Relevant education at bachelor or master's level within accounting, finance or business administration
  • Experience in accounting or financial management
  • Good knowledge and experience of working with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams)
  • Agresso experience is an advantage
  • Ability to take initiative and see things through
  • Good collaboration- and communication skills
  • Pedagogical mindset
