Background

IFPRI is engaging in several emerging workstreams with diet and nutrition endpoints. As part of this we are seeking a consultant to conduct a diet and nutrition-oriented landscape analysis in Sri Lanka.

The landscape analysis is aimed at identifying key in-country stakeholders, activities, and opportunities in the area of diets, nutrition and health more broadly, and specifically in relation to fruits and vegetables.

The specific objectives of this analysis are to:

  1. Identify key in-country stakeholders working on diets and nutrition, including representatives of government, research, universities, NGOS, multilateral organizations and other development partners
    1. Identify subset of stakeholders active in research and/or programs related to fruit and vegetable consumption
    2. Identity ongoing or planned programs related to fruit and vegetable consumption, diets, nutrition/health
      1. For each activity, capture the specific topic, geographical area, scale, population groups, aims and objectives, activities, timelines, budgets, partners
      2. Identify in-country behavior change (BCC) specialists and existing BCC resources

        This work will require in-person (or by phone) interviews and consolidation of responses collected. Thus, the work would be best suited to individuals with the required qualifications currently residing in Sri Lanka.

      3. A landscape analysis report
      4. Raw data from landscape analysis

        Duration

        This consultancy will take place from August 1, 2022 – December 15, 2022.

        Required qualifications

      5. Background in nutrition, public health, or related field
      6. Familiarity with diet and nutrition issues in low- and middle-income countries
      7. Experience working on nutrition-related issues in Sri Lanka
      8. Experience conducting semi-structured interviews
      9. Experience maintaining and updating spreadsheets or databases
      10. Experience summarizing information from semi-structured interviews
      11. Experience in report writing
      12. Fluency in English
      13. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel

        Preferred qualifications

      14. Data management and/or analysis experience
      15. Experience in the fruit and vegetable sector in Sri Lanka
