1. Background of the assignment:
United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) is a United Nations entity established in 1968 and mandate to assist intergovernmental, governmental and non-governmental organizations in formulating and implementing improved policies in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice. The Institute strongly emphasizes action-oriented analysis and integrated technical assistance.
UNICRI' s goals are:

• to advance understanding of crime-related problems;
• to foster just and efficient criminal justice systems;
• to support the respect of international instruments and other standards;
• to facilitate international law enforcement cooperation and judicial assistance.

Integrated knowledge management through research and the dissemination of relevant information on crime prevention and criminal justice is one of UNICRI’s core objectives. This objective is reliant upon specialized training and education activities.
In carrying out these objectives, UNICRI offers a series of post-graduate classes and short courses on topics that fall within the scope of its mandate among which a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Transnational Crime and Justice and an LLM in Cybercrime, Cybersecurity and International Law in collaboration with the University for Peace, located in Costa Rica.

2. Purpose of the assignment:
UNICRI seeks a Consultant to improve the visibility and promotion of the ongoing and future educational programmes through a tailored marketing strategy.

3. Specific tasks to be performed by the consultant:
Under the supervision of the Programme Management Officer, in close consultation with the UNICRI Communication Team and within the framework of the TAE Programme, the Consultant will analyze the current post-graduate education activities’ visibility and promotion strategies and tools, conduct a comparison with those adopted by main competitors and propose ways to improve it in view of expanding UNICRI’s education portfolio’s outreach. Qualifications/special skills

An advanced university degree (Master or equivalent) in social sciences, including, but not limited to, communication, sociology, public administration, public affairs, is required. PhD in similar field is an asset.
Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in the marketing and communication sector is required. Work experience in the field of marketing with a specific focus in marketing communications and multi-channel campaigning in the post-graduate education sector is an advantage. Previous experience working with the UN or other International Organizations is also desirable. Languages

Fluency in English is required.
