SG&R’s Global Food Security and Agriculture portfolio is working to strengthen agricultural markets, engage youth and women as critical leaders of the on- and off-farm workforce, and tackle the dual burden of malnutrition around the globe. RTI’s work is helping foster stronger food systems, reduce malnutrition in all its forms, build resilience and engage the next generation of food security leaders. RTI is currently partnering on nearly 30 projects in East Africa, including activities focused on private sector-driven agricultural growth in Rwanda and market systems development in Kenya.

Project Description

The purpose of the recently awarded USAID Feed the Future Senegal Value Chain Activity is to provide technical assistance to significantly scale-up, both in terms of potential beneficiaries and geographical coverage, access to value chain services to expand job opportunities and enterprise development in the Senegalese agricultural sector. The anticipated program will be based in Dakar, Senegal and the intervention zones are the Delta and middle valley of the Senegal River, South Saloum, and Casamance.

Position Description

RTI International is seeking a Communications Specialist for the USAID Feed the Future Senegal Value Chain Activity. This position is intended to support the activities of the project office and ensure proper communication and reporting of project activities. This position will be in Dakar, Senegal and report to the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Manager.

Description du projet

L’objectif du nouveau projet, Feed the Future Sénégal Services aux Chaines de Valeur de l’USAID, est de fournir une assistance technique pour augmenter considérablement, à la fois en termes de bénéficiaires potentiels et de couverture géographique, l’accès aux services au sein des chaînes de valeur pour accroitre les opportunités d’emploi et le développement des entreprises Sénégalaises dans le secteur agricole. Description du poste

RTI International est à la recherche d’un Spécialiste des communications pour l’activité Feed the Future Sénégal Services aux Chaines de Valeur de l’USAID. Ce poste est destiné à soutenir les activités du bureau de projet et à assurer une communication et un rapport appropriés des activités du projet. Ce poste sera basé à Dakar, Sénégal et sous la supervision du Responsable suivi, évaluation, et apprentissage.

Your primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Develop and implement a communications strategy to connect key stakeholders including USAID, other donor-funded projects, and the private sector with the project activities.
• Develop relevant communication materials, tools, and approaches, in line with the project objectives
• Develop communication strategies using social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, etc.).
• Ensure that communication tools are understood, accessible and used by all beneficiary targets.
• Liaise with RTI Communication Director and USAID to ensure that branding is in conformity with RTI and USAID branding regulations.
• Ensure the visual quality of reports and presentations, and respect for USAID's visual identity and graphic charter.
• Develop and share out a regular electronic newsletter, including success stories, and develop short films or photo montage videos on the project activities.
• Supervise the activities of service providers responsible for the production of communication media and tools, and event management.
• Assist in the design, implementation, and monitoring of relevant communication activities in the context of the project's implementation, in accordance with the established schedule and timetable.
• Prepare quarterly and annual progress reports on the status of project implementation.

  Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of experience, Master's degree and 1 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, and with multiple concurrent demands.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
