The Program

The Fiji Program Support Facility (the Facility) was established in 2017 to support and implement Australia’s aid programs such as health, education, emergency preparedness and response and governance in Fiji. The Facility also supports the Australia Awards in Fiji and Tuvalu. The Facility integrates cross-cutting themes, including gender equality, disability and social inclusion, climate change and Disaster Risk Reduction, across sectoral programs. In particular, the Facility seeks to strengthen program outcomes by better addressing the needs of targeted beneficiaries including those who are often marginalised.

The Facility Management Unit (FMU) provides centralised overarching management of the Facility’s programs and activities including operations, monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL), reporting, communications and public diplomacy and integration of cross-cutting themes.

The Position

The Communications Manager will lead a small communications team to plan, manage and deliver high-quality communications services across the Facility’s sectoral programs to proactively promote the visibility of Australia’s aid programs and contribute to stronger development outcomes. They will develop and maintain highly effective working relationships with staff across the Facility as well as with the Australian High Commission’s communications team.

The Communications Manager will be a champion for Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH) and Child Protection, and accountable for ensuring compliance with DFAT and the Facility/Tetra Tech’s organisational and operational policies and procedures across communications services.

The Person

The ideal candidate will be a strong manager with at least five years’ experience managing communications portfolios for programs or organisations, including management of staff and outsourcing to contractors. They will hold degree level qualifications in journalism, public relations, marketing, communications or a relevant field. The successful candidate will have experience in working collaboratively with a range of senior stakeholders such as donors and government officials, and in preparing high-quality, well-written and engaging communications materials and content.

Successful candidates will be required to provide evidence of their COVID-19 vaccination, in accordance with section 52D of the Health and Safety at Work (General Workplace Conditions) (Amendment) Regulations 2021.

This position is locally engaged and reserved only for National Citizens of Fiji. The annual salary will be between FJD 95,000 and FJD 135,000, dependent upon the successful candidate’s qualifications, skills and experience.
