These jobs are found in Country Offices (COs), and report to a Communications Officer.
Job holders at this level demonstrate responsibility and initiative to respond independently to queries with only general guidance. There is a requirement to use judgment in dealing with unforeseen problems on a daily basis.

JOB PURPOSE

To provide research and specialised communications services that support the creation of content and services aimed at maintaining and enhancing WFP’s visibility and reputation and supporting fundraising activities.

Key accountabilities:

Perform specialised communications processes and activities, to support staff in the development, preparation, execution and dissemination of campaigns for target audiences. Conduct research, suggest ideas, and provide coordination support to ensure the timely and effective delivery of communications projects. Manage the dissemination of communication materials in accordance with relevant policies. Serve as an information focal point, support and/or coordinate media coverage of events to optimise publicity of WFP’s activities. Develop and maintain and up to date media data base for WFP Egypt Country office Support the Head of Unit in managing media relations by regularly providing updates/info to WFP’s media database Develop the monthly newsletter of the Egypt Country Office Perform specialised communications processes and activities, to support staff in the development, preparation, execution and dissemination of campaigns for target audiences. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Organise and execute special events, working closely with colleagues, external partners and media, to ensure events are effectively scheduled and publicised . Monitor traditional and social media, and report relevant information to senior staff to inform the development and/or evaluation of communications activities and strategies. Under guidance, prepare content for use on traditional and social media platforms and networks, and printed materials, to enhance coverage and support of WFP’s activities, ensuring consistency with corporate messages. Distribute and promote communications guidelines for WFP staff to refer to when creating content. Manage updates and further develop internal records and databases, ensuring information is accurate, organised and available for others to access. Respond to specialised queries and requests for support, using initiative and following standard processes, to ensure timely and accurate resolution of all enquiries. Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, in order to provide an aligned, coherent service, and to identify opportunities to collaborate/integrate processes and activities. Implement improvements to communications methods and practices, to contribute to a better flow of information about WFP’s work to the media and stakeholders. Participate in internal and external communications material with the ability to replace the Head of Unit in some key UN communications meetings Monitor the media daily to highlight key topics of relevance to WFP’s work. Carrying out translation of key news to the management if/when needed. Good understanding of social media platforms and the ability to draft social media posts. Develop written content, including Press Releases, stories for the WFP website as well as contributing to donor reports covering communications activities. Travelling to the field to conduct interviews and gather success stories from the different WFP programmes

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A post-secondary certificate, Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Business Administration, International Relations or Media, journalist or any relevant field of study in the related functional area.
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in the English and Arabic languages

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Net Salary Per month: As per the WFP salary scale

Social Insurance: 8.33% added to the net pay monthly salary in lieu of pension contribution (wfp has no further obligation with the respect of pension)

Taxability of Salary: Tax - NOT exempted (Remuneration under SC is not exempt from national or local taxation)

Annual Leave: 2.5 Annual leave days per month

Certified Sick Leave: 2 days per month

Medical insurance: The Medical insurance coverage will be granted by WFP (cost is sharing among the contractor and WFP)

Death and Disability: SC holders must be covered for service incurred disability/injury/death, at no cost.

National holidays: 10 days per year, will be those observed by the WFP office in the country. You will be entitled to holiday days fallen within your contract duration.

Working hours: 5 days a week (Sunday to Thursday) 40 hours a week
