We also pursue international litigation cases to bring Justice to communities!

  4. Women Leaders: We apply a gender lens to our work and ensure women human rights defenders lead human rights decisions and initiatives.

  5. Resourcing Human Rights Defenders: We provide subgrants to marginalized communities affected by unfair policies and facing the most adverse impacts of business conducts.

II. Our Internship Programme

The Manushya Foundation offers an opportunity for interns to develop a unique experience in supporting local communities and in improving the human rights situation on the ground. We are a small NGO, with the advantages and constraints attached. Every staff member plays an important role and carries responsibilities. Dedication is key as it greatly impacts the work of the organisation. It is therefore necessary to embrace the vision and goals of the organisation and fully commit to its success.

1. Description of Duties & Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Executive Director and the Advocacy & Campaign Associate, the intern would primarily support communications and campaigns related to the work and campaigns of the Manushya Foundation:

  • Amplify Manushya's Digital Campaigns: develop engaging and powerful social media content (design & captions) to amplify Manushya's campaigns and the voices of marginalized communities we work with, to raise awareness and mobilize the public and youth on social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin, Youtube, etc.);
  • Engaging & Powerful Writing in support of Manushya's campaigns and activities: develop and disseminate engaging and powerful website stories, multimedia, blog posts, knowledge products and resources to support Manushya's digital campaigns amongst the public, human rights organisations, civil society, development organisations, and the diplomatic community; Support the development of press releases;
  • Comms: Update the website to build Manushya Foundation’s web presence;
  • Develop Manushya’s newsletters on Mailchimp;
  • Support to Content Creation and Design: develop content on CANVA and create infographics for social media and/or documents; participate in the design of documents such as reports, press releases, publications, statements, factsheets, invitations to events, and more;
  • Research & Analysis: Conduct research and analysis on the human rights situation in Asia to inform campaigns;
  • Support the development of concept notes, policy papers, and contribute to knowledge products as necessary;
  • Admin: Support all aspects leading up to consultations and workshops including collaborating with regional and national partners on the agenda and organisation of meetings, among other administrative tasks;
  • Assist in any other relevant tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

2) Profile needed

  • Degree in communications, development, human rights, international relations, or any related field;
  • Knowledge of human rights principles;
  • Be passionate about human rights, equality, social justice;
  • String interest in amplifying the voices of human rights defenders and local communities;
  • Interest in advocacy at the international level;
  • Experience in communications, social media, and/or web development; knowledge of Wix, Wordpress and Canva is critical;
  • Strong analytical skills and dedication;
  • Attention to detail and willingness to learn;
  • Experience working on human rights issues is a strong asset.
  • Excellent oral and written English;
  • Knowledge of Thai is an asset;
  • Growth mindset, initiative-taking, and the ability to work in a multicultural environment;
  • Good command of SLACK and Click-up to foster good internal project management and communication.
