How can you make a difference?
As the Child Protection Specialist, you will support the coordination and provision of response services for extremely vulnerable separated and unaccompanied children including special caseload of foreign children who are perceived to have been associated with armed actors. You will also support the development and preparation of the Child Protection programme(s) and will be responsible for the design, management, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and evaluation of the child protection programmes/projects within the country programme. Further, you will facilitate the administration and achievement of concrete and sustainable contributions to national and international efforts to create a protective environment for children against all harm, and to protect their rights to survival, growth, development and wellbeing as established under the Convention on the Rights of the Child, international treaties/frameworks and UN intergovernmental bodies. You will report to the Chief, Child Protection, for guidance and general supervision.
To qualify as a champion for every child you will have…
Education: An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law, or another relevant social science field.
Experience: A minimum of five years of professional experience in social development planning and management in child protection related areas in complex environment. Relevant experience in program development in child protection related areas in a UN system agency, working in both development and humanitarian contexts is considered as an added advantage. Experience working on IDTR and case management for children associated with armed groups and children held in detention, and other critically vulnerable children (i.e. formerly associated with ISIS/Terrorism groups). Excellent commend of the CPIMS+ Primero platform or other case management information systems is strongly encouraged as well as experience on developing and ensuring compliance on information sharing protocol (ISP) on data protection, capacity development of various stakeholders on IDTR, Case management and alternative care. Relevant experience in programme development in child protection related areas in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset. Experience in both development and humanitarian contexts is considered as an added advantage.
Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or local language of the duty station is considered as an asset (knowledge in Arabic is an added advantage).
