Project Description:

Creative Associates International (Creative) is seeking a Chief of Party (COP) for the anticipated USAID funded Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention and Response activity in Guatemala. The goal of this activity is to reduce the negative social and economic impacts of GBV in targeted areas of Guatemala, contributing to longer-term stability of the country. The proposed activity aims to support women, children, adolescents and other vulnerable groups victims of gender-based violence and intrafamily violence in targeted communities with high rates of violence.

Position Summary:

The COP will provide overall technical, operational, and managerial leadership and oversight for the project activities as well as serve as the primary liaison with USAID and the Government of Guatemala.

Reporting & Supervision:

The COP will report directly to the Project Director at headquarters and will supervise technical leaders for each project component and a Deputy Chief of Party overseeing operational management teams.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Is responsible for the overall technical direction of the project
  • Oversee the overall management and implementation of project activities
  • Actively engage key national and local government institutions, civil society, private sector, and other USAID implementing partners
  • Oversee the coordination of international and local partners
  • Actively identify issues and risks related to project implementation in a timely manner, and suggest appropriate program adjustments
  • Lead the development of annual work plans, milestone plans, and programmatic budgeting
  • Ensure the timely preparation of required reports and deliverables in accordance with USAID guidelines
  • Ensure project results and accomplishments are disseminated appropriately
  • Travel as needed to regional offices to ensure smooth and harmonized operations, providing management support as necessary
  • Represent the project in local, national, and international meetings and events
  • Respond to requests from donor and supervisors as needed**Qualifications**

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • At least ten (10) years of professional experience in protection, gender-based violence prevention and response, gender equity and social inclusion, women's empowerment, governance, and/or a related field
  • At least five (5) years of senior management experience in USAID programs in Guatemala and/or Central America
  • Advanced degree in international relations, sociology, law or related field (or, alternately, a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 5 additional years of relevant experience)
  • Professional experience with large scale ($20+ million) and complex contracts
  • Experience supervising large teams is required
  • Deep knowledge of USAID gender and GBV programming, particularly in the LAC region
  • Deep knowledge of USAID rules and regulations
  • Ability to handle a high volume of large and complex tasks
  • Fluency in English and Spanish
  • Guatemalan nationals are strongly encouraged to apply
