Based in Mons, Belgium the Chief, NATO Cyber Security Centre (Chief NCSC) will lead the international Cyber Security organisation who defend NATO's critical network infrastructure and be an active member of the NCI Agency Executive Leadership team.

The role:

 

The NATO Cyber Security Centre provides effective, agile and resilient cyber defences to enable the secure execution of NATO’s Consultation, Operations and Missions, enhancing the Alliance’s collective cyber defence. With teams based across multiple locations, the NCSC maintains and strengthens the cyber hygiene of NATO’s Enterprise networks and leads in the development and delivery of cyber security capabilities and services. The NCSC is the centre of technical expertise for cyber security within the Alliance, through leading technical collaboration within NATO and Allied cyber defenders.

 

The Chief NCSC is responsible for the entire lifecycle of cyber systems from design, procurement, implementation and operation of NATO’s cyber security systems solutions.  The post is responsible and accountable for ensuring coherence across people, process and technology of a diverse organisation of Cyber Experts who are defending NATO's critical networks, which are of significant value and scale.

 

Acting as a bridge between the server room and board room the Chief NCSC owns and implements the strategic planning and policy development of cyber security, with the Chief NCSC being the Cyber Leader internally to the NCI Agency and across the NATO community.

To be successful in applying for this post will have:

 

  • Extensive experience Cyber Security background (at least 10 years), involving leading and managing business operations in a technical organisation. Such experience should encompass:
    • Extensive experience in Cyber Security and extensive experience in implementing state of the art technology within the Cyber Security domain
    • Experience in leading a high-performing cyber security team
    • Proven experience in the strategic design of cyber security capabilities
    • Proven experience of modern cyber security methodologies such as Mitre Att&ck and Zero Trust
    • Portfolio/Programmes/Project/Services management best practices from a lifecycle approach; State-of-the-art project and business management processes, procedures and tools, including risk management, stakeholders expectation management
    • Resource management, including the planning for and allocation of resources in organizations
    • Human resources management methods, techniques and practices to recruit, lead, motivate and discipline staff, evaluate performance, and resolve human resources issues
      • Knowledge and experience involving the development, management, acquisition and/or implementation of major communications, computer, command and control, or intelligence (C4I) systems and/ or programmes with particular emphasis on Cyber Defence domain
      • Advanced knowledge of Information Security technologies best practices and international standards
      • Ideally knowledge of NATO cyber security roles, responsibilities, authorities and organization.
