himaya is a specialized NGO in the child protection sector, working to prevent violence against children and offer the support needed for abused children on a psychosocial and legal level; eventually allowing them to be reintegrated as productive and active members of society.
Job Summary:
In charge of training professionals such as CBO staff and municipality staff on child protection with a focus on child labor, and developing and implementing child protection policies for organizations working with children; in addition to giving other workshops and trainings about child protection to other professionals and himaya staff.
Main Tasks:
▪ Conduct needs assessments to identify gaps and training needs for a variety of professionals (through surveys, interviews or focus group discussions)
▪ Lead and facilitate focus group discussions with children and adults
▪ Develop content and training materials based on research-informed data
▪ Develop content and tools for capacity building sessions (training plan, training proposal, agenda, evaluation sheets, pre-post tests etc.)
▪ Provide capacity building sessions to himaya’s team members as well as outside professionals, such as CBO staff and municipality police
▪ Establish and maintain a safe, non-judgmental and respectful training environment for all participants
▪ Provide mentoring and coaching to participants as a post capacity building follow-up to ensure that the material transmitted was well integrated, when needed
▪ Review and prepare reports, such as training evaluation reports and project progress reports, when needed
▪ Develop and implement Child Protection Policies in institutions (as per the guidelines provided by the CBRD Department)
▪ Represent himaya in meetings with partners and stakeholders and submit detailed minutes
▪ Stay informed on relevant and up-to-date data and studies in order to find innovative and research-informed approaches to child protection and share information with CBRD manager on a quarterly basis
▪ Review CBRD content on a regular basis to ensure that data and materials are up to date and research-informed
▪ Provide operational teams and other programs and departments with relevant information, in accordance with CBRD’s strategy
▪ Participate in CBRD projects, when needed
▪ Follow CBRD’s yearly action plan
▪ Attend all CBRD meetings
▪ Follow himaya’s referral pathway when witnessing or dealing with disclosures of abuse
Educational Background and Skills Required:
§ Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology, Social Work or other relevant degree
§ 5-7 years of relevant CP field experience with children and/or their families
§ 3-5 years of experience in delivering training sessions, workshops and TOT’s to professionals such as: teachers, NGO staff, security forces and municipality police officers
§ Fluent in English and Arabic (spoken and written). French is a plus but not required
§ Demonstrated knowledge about child protection (national and international legal framework, Standard Operating Procedures for the Protection of Juveniles in Lebanon, case management, child development)
§ Demonstrated knowledge and experience with child labor preferred
§ Previous experience working in North Governorate preferred
§ Ability to balance field work and admin work
§ Strong communication and interpersonal skills
§ Confidence speaking to groups of various sizes, primarily in training situations; whether in person or online
§ Ability to be perceptive and sensitive to group dynamics and to respond to participants’ feedback and questions
§ Ability to confidently discuss sensitive topics with participants from different cultural and professional backgrounds
§ Ability to work closely with a team
§ Strong writing skills (writing reports, training manuals, curriculums etc.) in Arabic and English
§ Ability to work well under pressure and variable conditions, as both an individual contributor and within a team environment
§ Ability to adapt to fast paced, high change environments and difficult situations
§ Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently in order to meet deadlines
§ Ability to stay updated on best practices, current research, new developments and trends in CP
§ Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
