UNICEF's Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC) in Budapest, Hungary supports UNICEF Offices globally in the areas of Finance, Master Data Management, Human Resources, Administration, Payroll and Information Technology. The GSSC ensures cost effective and secure operations in support of global transaction processing consistent with the organization’s goals, strategy and objectives.

The Finance Section in the GSSC currently oversees transactional processing of Purchase-to-Pay and Master Data Management transactions.

How can you make a difference?

The GSSC is searching for qualified senior Finance professionals with strong people management and leadership skills with the ability to thrive within a dynamic and multi-cultural Shared Service Center environment. We are seeking candidates for our Talent Groups to fill upcoming Finance Manager vacancies at the P-4 level in Budapest GSSC.

This will involve,

1. Team and Process Management

•Lead the Finance team, ensuring their productivity, quality, abilities and compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)•Maximize the effective use of resources available, including workload analysis, productivity measures and other best practice methodologies•Develop and implement process improvements that deliver efficiencies for country offices and the GSSC •Ensure efficiency of the processes being managed and that transition of new processes are implemented successfully

2. Transaction Processing

•Responsible for processing of financial transactions for the unit, issues, escalations based on agreed SLA and standard of quality•Successfully manage processing issues in area of responsibility with corrective action taken/guidance implemented as necessary•Ensure suitable technical assistance and training is provided to team members based on existing UNICEF policies and procedures, tools and methodologies

3. Internal Controls

•Spearhead in strengthening financial controls in line with policies, procedures and guidelines issued by headquarters and accounting internal control reviews•Support the development and implementation of finance policies in support of GSSC processes

4. Change Management

•Deliver and support cross functional process transformation initiatives•Support and lead cross stream or section project improvements at the GSSC •Work closely and collaboratively across streams and sections within the GSSC and with relevant stakeholders.

5. Leadership and Management of Staff

• Lead stream and develop staff through coaching and mentoring•Ensure team leadership and cross-functional collaboration•Support and advise staff and management as appropriate to improve relations, achieve consensus and resolve issues•Promote management excellence and work life balance in the unit•Support a culture of honest and continuous feedback and performance management

Requirements

•An Advanced University Degree (Master’s and above) in one of the areas is required: Accounting, Finance, Public Finance or a related degree discipline•Qualified membership in an internationally recognized professional finance body, such as ACCA/ ICAEW/ CIMA/ CIPFA/ CPA•A minimum of 8 years of managerial work experience within the areas of Accounting, Finance and Audit

•Strong communication and excellent interpersonal and presentation skills •Results orientation and knowledge of productivity and efficiency measurements•Ability to organize, prioritize, and deliver under pressure •Enthusiastic team leader, who is flexible, always ready to take on new challenges and drives for results in flexible with an expanding environment•Fluency in English is required.

Desirable

•Lead implementation of innovative solutions of a significant nature and driving change globally

•Managerial experience and successful achievements in any of the following areas, including shared services in international work setting:

- Project Management and Change Management, including Process Improvement - Team leadership and people development for medium team size - Treasury and banking transactional support - Providing effective transactional support to stakeholders

•Knowledge of another official UN language or local language of the duty station is considered as an asset.
