Research Triangle Institute (RTI) has more than 60 years’ experience assisting governments, communities, and the private sector. Around the globe, RTI works to develop and implement low emission energy technology alternatives, raise private financing for energy infrastructure, bring efficiency to utilities, work with governments on legal and regulatory reforms to alleviate bottlenecks in energy generation and consumption, and increase access to green energy to sustain economic growth and reduce poverty.

Project Description

The purpose of the USAID Rural Electrification in Guatemala activity will be to help create a more favorable enabling environment for rural electrification through promoting renewable energy technology and energy efficient end use technology; create jobs linked to workforce development in rural electrification and renewable energy; and identify and accelerate private sector enterprises which contribute to renewable energy development in rural areas. The anticipated program will be based in Guatemala.

Project Description

RTI is currently seeking professionals with senior- and mid-level expertise in electrification, renewable energy technologies, private sector and community engagement, workforce development and other technical areas in Guatemala, particularly in Petén, Alta and Baja Verapaz, and the Western Highlands.

    Required Skills and Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 5+ years of experience focused on technical area of expertise.
    • Native fluency or full professional proficiency in Spanish required; English fluency preferred, and proficiency in other languages of Guatemala a plus.
    • Work experience in Guatemala required, specific experience in Petén, Alta and Baja Verapaz, and/or the Western Highlands a plus.
