Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager will lead on Donors' engagement and networking, designing the country office response, and together with the technical advisers, develop numerous high-value proposals for a range of institutional donors. The post holder will be expected to lead the coordination between technical and operational teams to map the needs and ensure that proposals are developed in good coordination and produced of high quality. The Business Development Manager will also ensure that programmes are developed using an integrated, cross-sectoral approach. In addition, the post holder is also expected to work closely with the Finance and Award teams to ensure that proposals, reports and projects are developed and implemented in compliance with donor requirements and also with the TAs and HR team to ensure Safeguarding is well considered and integrated in all our submission. In most circumstances, the post holder will be expected to mentor and/or capacity building existing country programme staff.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

In order to be successful you will bring/have:

Required

  • Master's degree in Gender or Women Studies or Social Science, or any relevant subjects

Essential

  • Education professional with a Master's Degree in education or equivalent
  • Prior 4 years' experience of working within a senior management role or cluster coordination within a complex country programme in an emergency response or fragile state
  • Previous first phase emergency response experience is essential (at least one year)
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to facilitate diverse groups.
  • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
  • A high level of written and spoken English
  • Demonstrable ability to work and represent views across different stakeholders taking part in the Education Cluster.
  • Experience of high level co-ordination and chairing of meetings.
  • Demonstrable understanding of international humanitarian response and co-ordination mechanisms.
  • Understanding of opportunities to provide integrated or cross-cutting humanitarian interventions with other sectors and Clusters
  • Understanding of the Consolidated Appeals Process and other funding mechanisms
  • Experience of applying relevant interagency humanitarian frameworks and standards in education in emergencies (for example INEE Minimum Standards)
  • The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.
  • Ability to travel different parts of the country as per needed
  • Demonstrated commitment to Humanitarian Principles and the Principles of Partnership

Desirable

  • Experience or knowledge of working and living in South Sudan; Arabic language skills
  • Experience of communicating beneficiaries directly.

Contract Duration: One Year

Location: South Sudan, Juba Office.
