SAF work packages, SAFOPS (group of the Safety Team), projects, safety events, working groups, etc.; discussions with internal and external stakeholders (ANSPs, airports, airlines, etc.); decision-taking after consultation with stakeholders. Gradually take over the: technical secretariat of the SAFOPS ; content management of Skybrary (skybrary.aero). Develop and deliver safety management training on safety tools, systems, investigations, etc. Conduct safety assessments and present findings and solutions. Act as OPS surveyor and auditor for Network Management’s (NM) safety surveys and audits. Provide operational hands on safety support (e.g. safety assessments, investigations, surveys) to Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) and States. Carry out any other task in line with the main purpose of the job.

Required qualifications, experience & competencies

Completed university studies of 4 years in a relevant domain (e.g. Aeronautical engineering, ATM, ANS) or completed relevant university studies of 3 years plus 1 year relevant professional experience, or completed air traffic control training. A Master’s degree would be an advantage. In addition to the above, a minimum of 5 years’ relevant professional experience including experience in ATM safety management. Operational Air Traffic Control experience. Experience and proficiency in ATM operational concepts, tools and methods. Experience in developing ATM procedures; identifying user requirements and writing specifications of ATM technical systems; safety management functions and requirements, ideally as well in ATM Ops safety management; conducting safety assessments / audits; using safety tools, methods and concepts; setting modern safety monitoring/safety performance dashboards for ATC Units; ANSP certification and/or oversight with National CAAs and/or EASA. Experience or ability to give trainings. Project Management skills. Analytical thinking: You analyse information and are able to identify relationships. Networking: You know how to maintain and expand effective networks. Communication: You are able to foster two-way communication. Influencing: You tailor your style and approach to influence others. Quality focus: You set and foster high quality standards. Ability to work in a multinational and multicultural environment. Professional conduct in line with the corporate behaviours of the Agency, i.e. result-driven, readiness to change, customer focus, integrity and team-player approach. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. For this particular job, candidates must be proficient users of English at level C1. The selected candidate will have to acquire at least a basic knowledge of French at level A1 before the end of the probation period.
The levels relate to the Common European Framework of References for languages (CEFR).

The selected candidate will be offered a contract of 5 Year (s) pursuant to the provisions of the Staff Regulations governing officials at EUROCONTROL. The contract may be renewed up to a maximum of 9 years or converted into an undetermined contract. The internal staff member with a determined contract will be offered, in principle, an appointment for 5 Year(s) with a maximum total duration of 9 years.
