The UK Public Health Rapid Support Team (UK-PHRST)
We are seeking an outstanding Assistant Professor or Research Fellow to contribute to the UK-PHRST’s epidemiological and analytical expertise. The UK-PHRST is co-led by the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and Public Health England (PHE) with a triple remit of response, research and capacity development for outbreaks in low and middle income countries (LMICs).
The role will focus on contributing to the management of complex incidents and outbreaks of infectious diseases as part of UK-PHRST deployments, supporting key partners in the analysis of surveillance and other outbreak-related data and produce academic research to improve the evidence base on improving outbreak response.
The successful candidate will have a postgraduate degree, a doctoral degree, for Assistant Professors, in Epidemiology, Public Health or related field. Expertise in outbreak and emergency response is essential. Further particulars are included in the job description.
The post is full time, 1 FTE until 31 March 2022 The post is funded by the UK Government Overseas Development Aid and is available with an immediate start date.
The salary will be on the Academic Pathway salary scale Grade 7 for an Assistant Professor and Grade 6 for a Research Fellow in the range £47,405 - £54,267 for an Assistant Professor and £40,611 - 46,119 for a Research Fellow per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
