The Adolescent Officer reports to the Youth and Adolescent Specialist. The national UN Volunteer will undertake the following three groups of tasks:

Strengthen monitoring function

  • Systematically collect and make the data available for key projects related to the ADAP indicators. Support in the monitoring and evaluation exercises, programme reviews and annual reviews with government and other counterparts to assess programmes on young people participation and civic engagement.
  • Provide technical support to the ADAP partners in Gaza with close support and guidance from the Youth and Adolescents Specialist.
  • Facilitate meaningful participation of young people in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of UNICEF programmes and where applicable- the GenU country investment agenda.
  • In coordination with Knowledge Management and Reporting Officer in Jerusalem Office, collect inputs for quarterly Situation Report (SITREP) and update Gaza Humanitarian Performance Monitoring Sheet
  • Conduct and report on programmatic and field monitoring missions to ADAP projects in Gaza, draft report and analyze findings in the field monitoring reports.
  • Follow up with partners on collecting and repoting on the EMS monitoring system.
  • Support the Youth and Adolescent officer in developing program documents, and monitoring and tracking sheet for the youth and adolescent projects.
  • In coordination with the Youth and Adolescent specialist and Gaza supply officer, contribute to the development of the supply plan.
  • Support interventions and documentations of the Generation Unlimited initatives.

Strengthen reporting function

  • Participate as appropriate in meetings with government, UN Thematic group on Young people, and NGO partners to collect latest updates on progress of adolescents and youth initiatives and keep abreast of the latest information and updates
  • Support the Youth and Adolescent Specialist in preparing inputs for quarterly, bi-annual and end of the year CO report.
  • Identify, capture, synthesize and share lessons learned on meaningful young people’s participation and civic engagement that can inform UNICEF and partners’ programming including the GenU partnership- where applicable.
  • Build the capacity of partners in quality data collection and reporting.

Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building

  • Identify, capture, synthesize and share lessons learned on meaningful young people’s participation and civic engagement that can inform UNICEF and partners’ programming including the GenU partnership- where applicable.
  • Undertake field visits to UNICEF project sites to collect visibility and communications materials, including human interest stories.
  • Identify, capture, synthesize and share lessons learned on meaningful young people’s participation and civic engagement that can inform UNICEF and partners’ programming including the GenU partnership- where applicable.
  • Contribute to the establishment of Projects Data Base in Gaza and upload projects on one drive under the “ADAP” program on the (U) drive

Support day to day management of the Education and Adolescent Section

  • Ensure day to day management including financial of the implementation of the education programme components related to youth and adolescent;
  • Support and contribute to the development of project documents, Programme Coordinatioon Agreements (PCA) in close consultation with the various sections of the office for cross- sectoral activities
  • In consultation with the Youth and Adolescent specialist , draft project and donor proposals for Gaza-related work

 

Results/expected outputs:

 

  • Youth and Adolescent projects will be effectively managed in Gaza.
  • The visibility of UNICEF's role in adolescent programming is enhanced.
  • Monitoring and evaluation of the youth and adolescent programme enhanced and systematized.
  • Quarterly update on key indicators
  • Gaza Humanitarian Performance Monitoring Sheet is updated.
  • Monitoring and tracking sheet is developed for youth and adolescent programme.

• The development of capacity through coaching, mentoring and formal on-the-job training, when working with (including supervising) national staff or (non-) governmental counter-parts, including Implementing Partners (IPs);

• Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment

• A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development dur-ing the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed
