Role Summary
NRC is looking for an Area Manager, Myanmar. The Area Manager will ensure high quality and cost-effective programme/project implementation and will be responsible for oversight of NRC operations in Rakhine State (Central and North), which comprises of one office and one sub office- Sittwe and Maungdaw. There is the possibility of expansion in the Area, potentially starting up smaller sub-offices, which the Area Manager will lead on. The role holder will get the opportunity to lead the largest team in NRC Myanmar.
Key Responsibilities
- Line management for senior project staff and support functions.
- Provide area specific input on core competency strategies, Country Strategy and Plan of Action.
- Significantly contribute to the development of NRC’s 2022-2025 Country Strategy, using findings of assessments and lessons learned from implementation to date.
- Ensure optimal use of resources within the allocated project budgets and core competency strategies.
- Coordinate NRC’s funding proposal submissions to key donors, with country level management.
- Oversee the expansion of the NRC’s NW Myanmar set-up. (Operational expansion by improving existing systems and support of local support staff; and Programmatic expansion through overseeing the transition to integrated programming and expansion of protection focused programming).
- Organize grants opening and closure meetings at area level.
- Implementation of projects (including master support budget and coordinating input for donor proposals and reports) in the area, in compliance with contractual commitments (i.e. quality, synergies, timeliness, use of resources).
- Assess needs, develop emergency response and implement response plans.
- Represent NRC in relevant level coordination fora, including the INGO Forum, Area HCT and ad hoc meetings that require senior NRC representation.
- Ensure that capacity building is provided to all staff, and ensure the induction of new staff.
- As Area Security Focal Point, liaise closely with the Country Directot on security and safety issues, and feed into the revision of SOPs, risk assessments, etc., as appropriate.

Required Competencies, Skills and Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience from working as a Senior Project Manager in a humanitarian/recovery context.
- Preferred experience as an Area Manager.
- Solid experience from sector/cluster coordination, grants management and programme development.· Experience from advocacy work.
- Experience with start-up.
- Knowledge of the context in the Cox’s Bazar Rohingya and refugee response.
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
- Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
