In situations of armed conflict, Geneva Call, as a neutral, impartial and independent international humanitarian organization, endeavors to strengthen the respect of humanitarian norms and principles by armed non-State actors, in order to improve the protection of civilians, while supporting local communities in their efforts to enhance their own protection. Role

The position is located in the Department of Operations under the supervision of the Head of Africa

Activities

Based in Geneva and under the guidance of the Head of Africa, the position holder will be responsible for the following duties:

  • You will be in charge of controlling the quality of all administrative finance, human resources documents produced by the country offices of Geneva Call in Africa (Democratic Republic of Congo, Libya, Mali and South Sudan);

  • You will review the monthly Budget Follow Ups produced by the country offices;

  • You will confront these monthly Budget Follow Ups to monthly cash requests;

  • You will support the field teams for registration or renewal of their registration certificates in country.

  • You will confirm the level of available funding for new positions at field level;

  • You will review job descriptions for field offices recruitment;

  • You will review monthly expense reports shared by the country offices, ensuring they also include proper documentation;

  • You will assist in the monthly reconciliation between cash flows and expense reporting;

  • You will review call for tenders and their methodologies (ToR, grid of analysis…);

  • You’ll support month-end close processes for the consolidated financial statement

Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
  • 1-5 years experience on an Accounting or Finance team, preferably in an NGO
  • Financial analysis, including audit reviews,
  • Qualitative analysis;

  • Understanding of Donor requirements an asset;

  • Understanding or prior experience in HR is an asset,

  • Excellent time and self-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask to meet required deadlines, you are result-oriented

  • You have a strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills

  • You are a team player with excellent communication on all levels and a positive attitude

  • You have strong Excel skills and experience with large data sets

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the Organisation, fluency in written and oral English is essential. Knowledge of any other languages are advantageous.
