Action Against Hunger is operating in Liberia since 1990 following the start of the first Civil War, and has become one of the main humanitarian and development actors in the country, focusing on the links between nutrition, health, mental health, psychosocial support and protection (MHPSS-P), food security and livelihoods (FSL), water sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and advocacy to address the underlying and root causes of nutrition insecurity. Action Against Hunger has also developed a strong acceptance within the communities in the areas of interventions. The Country Office has implemented the nationalization process and majority of the senior management team are national staff. In addition, the country office has implemented localization strategy and currently works with several national partners. The portfolio of Liberia will experience an incremental growth from the end of 2023 and for the following years (multi-year projects currently under negociation/contractualisation).
Action Against Hunger currently works in in eight counties (out of the total 15 nationally), with main beneficiaries being children under 5 years, pregnant and lactating women and adolescents.
Action Against Hunger has operational offices in Montserrado (Monrovia) and Nimba (Sanniquellie) counties and nearly 40 staff members in Liberia.

Under the management of the Regional Operations Direction, the Country Director, based in Monrovia, is responsible for overseeing the development, funding and implementation of the Country Strategy and Program and for the overall supervision of the country staff in Liberia.
You hold a Master Degree in International Relations, humanitarian or development studies. You can justify 8 years of experience in mangement position in the Humanitarian or Development sector in Africa.
You show advanced leadership and project management skills with best practices in country team and performance management.
You show excellent knowledge and understanding of working in a complex, very constrained and sensitive environment; Excellent negotiation skills, and politically astute.
You are experienced in identifying, analysing humanitarian needs & designing potential responses, and follow up with technical referents proposal writing, concept notes, etc.
You have significant experience with external representation and promotion of programs with stakeholders and donors, and able to generate goodwill towards the program with the intention of raising funds. You show an extensive knowledge and understanding of humanitarian coordination mechanisms and Nexus between Recovery and Development.
You have experience of managing security in a volatile environment.
You have an excellent command of English language. Excellent knowledge and understanding of the West Africa (Liberia) context would be an asset.
